"Regular-job" working people reading this blog are probably thinking, " Pssshhhhh...you teachers and your breaks!" but my fellow teachers in the trenches with the little people...I'm sure you are feeling it too!
I am convinced that something happens to kid brains around the following events and/or times of year:
- The first week of school "We will smile and do whatever you like, because we want you to like us"
- The second week of school "And now we will show our true colors, but remember, you already like us!"
- After Thanksgiving: This is usually when the "Elf on the Shelf" comes out, and kids start putting their halos on so they get good stuff for Christmas.
- Week before Christmas break: Let's just say that the learning is probably minimal this week...
- Week after Christmas break: "I'm rocking in my NEW shoes" (Pete the Cat reference BTW)....and my new clothes, and new toys, and new everything! I"m so new, I forgot how to act in this place called school....
- Full moons, impending snow, or recess-cancelling rain: Let's just say, that this pretty accurately describes the kids...
